Keeping term records local when a desktop utility is in the room
Releasepathbase’s optional desktop utility exists for departments that prefer to keep running tallies of outcomes and tasks on a local machine. It is a tracking and analytical aid for records the school already holds. It is not a place to keep money, keys, or custody of anyone’s assets, and it is not a substitute for the school’s official information system.
Compatibility notes that mention other software names, including exchange software some staff may use in private life, are statements about file formats and local reading — not about trading, custody, or affiliation. The same caution applies to cultural properties that appear in literacy units: a review of a comics-based reading module does not make Releasepathbase a licensee of those characters.
If a department installs the utility, the practical test is simple. Can a teacher explain, without a vendor script, where the files live, who can open them, and how they would proceed if the machine failed on a Sunday? If those answers are unclear, delay installation and keep using the paper markbook until they are.
Availability of the utility is listed through Veve. There is no installer on this website, and this practice does not send application files by email.
